Maathu Kalyani began her travel with Music since her childhood and has been learning carnatic music for 15 years. Shri.Sunil Lal, Kollam was her first Guru, and then she started her learning under Gaanabhooshanam Shri.Thrikkadavur Tulaseedharan Pillai, he was a graded artist in All India Radio. She participated in so many music competitions from her primary classes to University level and won prizes consecutively. She has been elected for the title 'Kalaathilakam' several times.
She was selected into
'prabhavalayam' a talent hunt programme conducted by All India Radio all over
Kerala, and she was chosen as "the popular singer" by the audience.
Apart from School and University Kalolsavams she has won prizes in state level
musical competitions like Gramolsavam, Keralolsavam conducted by Government of
Kerala. And she was blessed with the opportunity to perform in the prestigious
Chembai Sangeetolsavam at Guruvayur Temple consecutively and presented musical
fusions and classical concerts during Navaratri festivals, Television
channels and another occasions. Her vocal has been recorded for so many musical
albums.
